On the day of completion, you will be able to pick up the keys to your new house and the previous incumbents will be required to move out.
If you want a smooth and organised moving day, it's a good idea to speak to the estate agents and solicitors involved to coordinate the moving process on the day. There can be penalties if you fail to vacate the property you are leaving in time and minutes or hours spent standing on the pavement with all your worldly goods in a lorry, waiting for another party, can be highly nerve-wracking.
Make sure that you are able to pick up the keys to your new home and move in at the time agreed and that the property is already empty! Don't forget to take a gas, electricity and water meter readings (if applicable) from the property you leave and enter.
